The historic square in the very center of the capital of the Middle Urals has today become a site for the opening ceremony and the first competitive day of the Russian Emergencies Ministry Championship in fire and rescue sports.

About 500 athletes from 25 regions of the country take part in the competition. Among the participants there are both adult athletes and boys and girls. Many of the athletes are participants and winners of both Russian and international competitions. Competitions are held in 4 disciplines – climbing an assault ladder to the window of the 4th floor of a training tower, overcoming a 100-meter obstacle course, a fire relay and combat deployment.

Deputy Ministers of the EMERCOM of Russia Ilya Denisov, Anatoly Suprunovsky and Viktor Nichiporchuk took part in the opening ceremony as part of their visit to the Sverdlovsk Region.

On behalf of the head of the department, Evgeny Zinichev, I. Denisov congratulated the athletes on the start of the championship. “Fire and rescue sport is a sport of strong, brave and courageous people. The Ministry always pays great attention to a healthy lifestyle. Firefighters and rescuers must be prepared for serious workloads. Acting as one friendly team at a combat post, they go to the heart of the fire, fight the elements and defeat it, ”the Deputy Minister noted.

Competitions are held on two grounds. EMERCOM employees have deployed a whole sports campus, the center of which is a 4-storey training tower, to which athletes climb with the help of assault ladders in a matter of seconds. There are also tents for the preparation and rest of the participants, a dining room, premises for judges and support staff on the site.

The championship is held taking into account the restrictions caused by the spread of coronavirus infection. Participants are allowed to compete only if they have a negative PCR test. Disinfection is carried out after each day of the competition of all sports equipment, equipment, tents, premises and vehicles involved in the competition. Additionally, disinfection of sports equipment and distances is organized. Team representatives are provided with medical masks and disinfectants for all competitors. Unfortunately, the competition is held without spectators, but everyone will be able to watch the online broadcast.

Today the winners in climbing the assault ladder to the window of the 4th floor of the training tower have been determined. As a result of the intense struggle, the places were distributed as follows. In the individual championship among men: 1st place – Shamkhan Kubaev (Chechen Republic); 2nd place – Anton Zabelin (Belgorod Region); 3rd place – Nikita Kuzmenko (Moscow region).

In the individual championship among women, Anastasia Romanova from St. Petersburg became the best, Ekaterina Chendakova from the KhMAO-Yugra team won the silver, Angela Kataeva, also from the KhMAO-Yugra, became the third.
