On the eve of the celebration of the Day of the Russian Navy, the northernmost indoor swimming pool in the world was opened at the Arctic Shamrock military base of the Northern Fleet, located on the Alexandra Land island of the Franz Josef Land archipelago.

A few months ago, Defense Minister of the Russian Federation General of the Army Sergei Shoigu set the task of building a complex hydraulic structure on an Arctic military base for the Day of the Navy.

The characteristics of the unique facility, erected in the shortest possible time by the specialists of the military construction complex of the Ministry of Defense of Russia: length – 25 meters, depth – 1.8 meters, three sports tracks, modern technologies of water purification and water heating – allow to provide a throughput for swimming for 24 people, round-the-clock operation and maintenance of the optimum water temperature of 26-28 degrees. Water for filling the pool bowl is supplied from snow-melting installations, water preparation – heating, recirculation, filtration and disinfection is carried out using the most modern technological equipment and meets the established sanitary and hygienic requirements.

In the pool building, in accordance with the accepted building codes and regulations, panoramic windows are installed, shower rooms, a dressing room, changing rooms and auxiliary rooms are located. An indoor swimming pool, built using advanced construction technologies, will allow servicemen doing military service in the harsh conditions of the Arctic to swim all year round, which will have a positive effect on maintaining good physical shape, will help relieve emotional stress and stress, normalize sleep, strengthen immunity and general body resistance. to external stimuli.

The Arctic Trefoil is the second unique closed-loop residential complex built in the interests of the Northern Fleet in the high-latitude regions of the Arctic. Today it is the only capital construction facility in the world, erected at 80 degrees north latitude. The first – at 75 degrees north latitude, was built “North Clover” on the Kotelny island of the Novosibirsk Islands archipelago. The area of ​​the facility is over 14 thousand square meters. The autonomy of the complex makes it possible to provide comfortable living and performance of official duties for a group of servicemen up to 150 people for a year and a half. The construction of the complex was carried out using innovative and energy efficient technologies that minimize energy consumption, it is as environmentally friendly as possible and does not cause any damage to the environment.
