In total, the Russian national team has four awards. More than 300 schoolchildren from 76 countries took part in the competition.

Pupils of the capital’s schools won three medals at the XXXII International Biological Olympiad. Gold was won by David Zheglov from School No. 171. Ivan Prokhorov from the School of the Center for Pedagogical Excellence and Evgeny Yayloyan from the Intellectual School were awarded silver awards. The competition was held from July 18 to July 23 in an online format and included theoretical and practical rounds. Tasks were prepared in the main areas of science, including cellular and molecular biology, anatomy and physiology of plants, anatomy and physiology of animals and humans, ethology, genetics and evolution, ecology, biosystematics. The tasks were devoted to Fernand Magellan’s trip around the world. More than 300 schoolchildren from 76 countries fought for the victory. Portugal was the host country.

The International Biological Olympiad has been held since 1990. The country can be represented by a team of four students.

The project “Medical class in a Moscow school” allows one to study biology more deeply and learn more about modern and in-demand professions. Children study the basics of microbiology, biochemistry, anatomy, learn to provide first aid, dressings and artificial respiration on training simulators. Schoolchildren can demonstrate their knowledge at the All-Russian Olympiad for Schoolchildren in Biology, the M.V. Lomonosov, Moscow Olympiads in biology and genetics.
