Today, in the main base of the Northern Fleet – Severomorsk, solemn events dedicated to the Day of the Russian Navy took place. They passed in full accordance with the approved plan, despite unfavorable weather conditions – low temperatures, drizzle and gusty winds. In the morning on the warships and support ships, together with the State and naval flags, the coloring flags were raised, and an enlarged version of the Andreevsky flag traditionally soared into the sky over Severomorsk.

The military parade of the troops of the North Sea garrison on Primorskaya Square began at 10.50 also with the removal of the State and naval flags. Then the parade commander, the head of the military garrison, Lieutenant General Dmitry Kraev, met the commander of the fleet of the Hero of Russia, Admiral Alexander Moiseyev, and reported to him about the readiness for the event. Admiral Alexander Moiseev toured the parade line and congratulated the soldiers of the North Sea on the Day of the Russian Navy.

A large screen was installed on Primorskaya Square, on which festive events taking place in Severomorsk, as well as at the Main Naval Parade in St. Petersburg, were broadcast live. On this screen, the North Sea residents saw the congratulations of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation – Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Veterans, servicemen and residents of Severomorsk were congratulated on the holiday by the commander of the Northern Fleet, Admiral Alexander Moiseev, the governor of the Murmansk region, Andrey Chibis, and the head of the city, Oleg Prasov.

After congratulations in memory of those killed in the battles for the Motherland, wreaths and flowers were laid at the monument to the Soldiers of the North Sea – the heroic defenders of the Arctic Circle, and a minute of silence was announced. Then a solemn march took place for the parade crews of the garrison: crews of surface ships, submarines, land and coastal units, air defense soldiers and female military personnel. The military band of the Northern Fleet closed the solemn procession.

The land military parade was followed by a naval parade. Four boats with the command staff of the fleet, the leadership of the region and the power structures of the Murmansk region, as well as the border service of the FSB of Russia in the western Arctic region, veterans and guests bypassed the parade line of ships delivered on the Severomorsk roadstead of the Kola Bay. Fleet Commander Admiral Alexander Moiseev greeted each crew built on the upper deck and congratulated them on the holiday.

The final element of the festive events was a theatrical performance and demonstration of the combat capabilities of the naval forces in the waters of the Kola Bay.
