Servicemen of the high-mountain units of the Armed Forces, the Federal Security Service and the Russian National Guard will make a multi-kilometer march around the highest point in Europe – Mount Elbrus in Kabardino-Balkaria as part of the all-army stage of the Elbrus Ring-2021 competition.
The units will overcome about 100 km of mountain serpentine with a total elevation difference of about 3.5 km and a total gain (loss) of altitude in the ascent (descent) sections of up to 12 km.
During the second stage of the competition, the teams will perform special tasks “Hanging crossing”, “Parallel crossing of the river”, “Overcoming a rocky area of the terrain”, “Landing with a forward march”, “Overcoming the ice area (lifting)”, “Overcoming the ice area (descent) “,” Transportation of the victim “. All special tasks of the second stage will be performed with standard weapons and in full equipment weighing about 30 kg.
At the end of the march, the servicemen will, as part of the unit, make a high-speed ascent to the top of Mount Elbrus.
The all-army stage of the international competition for the best high-mountain unit “Elbrus Ring-2021” is held in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic on the basis of the Terskol Mountain Training and Survival Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. It is attended by more than 150 servicemen of high-mountain units of the power departments of the Russian Federation in nine teams from the military districts, the Ground Forces, the Northern Fleet, the Airborne Forces and the Federal Service of the National Guard Troops. For the first time, a team from the Federal Security Service participates in the competition. The competition will end on August 4.
The organizer of the competition is the Physical Training and Sports Department of the RF Armed Forces. These competitions have been held since 2015.
