Teams from more than 30 countries fought for the victory. The composition of the Russian national team was determined based on the results of the Moscow Traditional Olympiad in Linguistics and additional selection. Detailed information about the competition is published on official website.
The International Linguistics Olympiad has been held since 2003. This year Latvia was the host country. The competition is not included in the list of international Olympiads in which Russian schoolchildren officially participate.
The peculiarity of linguistic Olympiads is that knowledge of languages is not the main thing here, logical abilities, patience and the ability to consider the problem from different points of view are much more important. Moscow schoolchildren can learn this thanks to the circles that work at the Center for Pedagogical Excellence, the Moscow Center for Continuous Mathematical Education and leading universities in the city.
The guys have the opportunity to try their hand at the Moscow Traditional Olympiad in Linguistics and in the M.V. Lomonosov. And in the future they will work in modern IT companies, which now have a great demand for such specialists.
