Since the start of the program, almost 44,000 Muscovites have started moving or have already moved to new apartments.
Since the start of the renovation program, 130 houses have been built in Moscow, which is about 1.7 million square meters. 107 new buildings have already been transferred for settlement, said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction Andrey Bochkarev.
Construction of 165 houses with a total area of 2.5 million square meters is underway. Another 141 new buildings with a total area of 2.8 million square meters are under development. The dismantling of 56 old houses has also been completed.
“The number of participants in the renovation program who received the keys to new apartments has already exceeded 35 thousand people. In total, since the start of the program, 43,900 Muscovites have been resettled from 290 houses, ”said Andrei Bochkarev.
In addition to building houses, the city creates a full-fledged infrastructure. Social and sports facilities, educational and health care facilities are being built in the renovation quarters. Program participants receive comfortable housing in a well-maintained neighborhood. The idea of a comprehensive renovation of the districts is supported by the vice-president of the Institute for Urban Planning and System Design, Anna Kurbatova.
“Renovation can and should be viewed not as a process of demolishing old buildings and building new ones. The most effective view of it is as an opportunity to launch the process of large-scale changes in the quality of the urban environment in large urban areas. The changes have already affected not only specific demolition and construction sites, but also the adjacent territories associated with them in the citywide systems – transport, engineering, recreational, environmental, social, ”she said.
The renovation program was approved in August 2017. About a million people living in more than 350 thousand apartments will receive comfortable housing in modern neighborhoods. For the implementation of the program, 513 launch sites were selected.
