Servicemen of motorized rifle and tank units of the combined arms army of the Western Military District have begun exercises to overcome water obstacles in the Voronezh Region.

During the exercise, driver mechanics of BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, T-72B3 tanks and T-82A armored personnel carriers in less than 3 minutes must overcome about 250 meters of the river afloat or along the river bottom, maneuvering between obstacles in the form of buoys. The immersion depth almost completely deprives the driver of the view, therefore, motorized riflemen and tankers use a gyrocompass for orientation.

Before the first dives, servicemen preliminarily conduct a thorough check of military equipment, undergo light diving training courses with an individual IP-5 emergency rescue vehicle, and also study the theoretical and practical features of completing a mission while still on land.

In total, about 500 servicemen of the combined arms army of the Western Military District were involved in the exercises to overcome water obstacles, over 60 units of weapons, military and special equipment were involved.
