Branch of PJSC “Company” Sukhoi “” Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant named after Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin is a member of PJSC UAC of the state corporation Rostec. The plant was founded in 1934. The first product was released in May 1936 – the R-6 reconnaissance aircraft. Over the years, the enterprise has manufactured more than 12 thousand military and civil aircraft.

The main focus of the enterprise is the construction of combat aircraft. Today it is the fifth generation Su-57 and the Su-35S generation 4 ++ multifunctional fighter.

KnAAZ takes part in the creation of a light tactical aircraft developed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau. In 2021, the plant assembled a full-size aircraft – a technology demonstrator for this promising single-engine Checkmate fighter. Work is underway on the creation of the first aircraft prototype for static testing.

Over the past five years, KnAAZ has carried out a large-scale modernization and technical re-equipment of production, including for the development of serial production of new types of aircraft. The introduction of modern technologies, the installation of new equipment ensured a complete renewal of the production base of a number of workshops. In particular, a new robotized workshop for electroplating coatings with special chambers for applying radio-absorbing coatings for the Su-57 program was put into operation. A number of other facilities are under reconstruction and construction.

New assembly lines for the Su-35S and Su-57 were put into operation on the basis of the in-line principle of organizing production, which makes it possible to ensure high serial production.

Currently, the plant is fulfilling contracts for the production of aircraft of the Su-35, Su-57 type in the interests of Russian and foreign customers. The plant is loaded with orders until 2028.
