The connecting line tunnel was built in difficult hydrogeological conditions.

The boring of the left running tunnel of the connecting line between the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the metro and the Zamoskvoretskoye depot has been completed, said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development and Construction Andrey Bochkarev

“The second tunnel connecting the Zamoskvoretskoye depot and the BCL has been passed. The connecting branch is needed to deliver trains from the depot to the Bolshaya Ring Line, of which the reconstructed Kakhovskaya Line will become a part. At the end of last year, metro builders laid the adjacent right tunnel. The concreting of the track superstructure is already underway, ”said Andrei Bochkarev.

The construction of the tunnel of the connecting branch took place in difficult hydrogeological conditions: the sinking was carried out in soils consisting of loamy soils and watered sand.

“The tunnel boring complex (TPMK) Marina” with a diameter of six meters has completed the boring of the left running tunnel 784.8 meters long from the site located near the Zamoskvoretskoye depot to the dismantling shield chamber between the stations “Kakhovskaya” and “Varshavskaya” of the Big Circle Metro Line ” , – said the general director of JSC “Mosinzhproekt” Yuri Kravtsov.

Sergey Zhukov, General Director of Mosmetrostroy JSC, stressed that tunneling under the existing transport facilities required additional security measures.

“We carefully laid a shield under the Varshavskoe highway and next to the existing metro section – the reconstructed Varshavskaya station. In addition, additional organizational measures were required: on this segment, the cruising speed of the TPMK was reduced and the pressure in the system was monitored, ”he noted.

During the excavation, the soil was brought to the surface through a pipeline. This method works precisely on the TPMK with hydraulic surcharge, designed to work in difficult geological conditions. For further integration of the connecting line between the metro and the Zamoskvoretskoye depot, five turnouts will be embedded in the tunnel.

The Big Circle Line project is the largest in the history of Moscow metro construction. The construction of 31 stations is planned at the BCL, 12 of which have already been opened, another 16 are under construction, and three stations of the Kakhovskaya line, which will become part of the BCL, are being reconstructed. Active work is underway at Kakhovskaya, Varshavskaya and Kashirskaya, including the installation of modern smoke removal systems.
