On July 28, the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Afghanistan Z. N. Kabulov held consultations in Moscow with the former President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan H. Karzai on issues related to ending the civil war and promoting national reconciliation in the IRA.

The Russian side stressed the conviction that a stable Afghan settlement should be achieved through the formation of a broad-based transitional coalition government of Afghanistan, including all the main political forces of the country.

The ex-president supported the efforts of the expanded troika (Russia-USA-China and Pakistan) to accelerate the launch of meaningful inter-Afghan negotiations and noted the important role that the participants of the Moscow format of consultations on Afghanistan can play in this direction.
