Servicemen of the tank subdivisions of the combined arms army of the Western Military District (ZVO) practiced the tactical technique “tank carousel” during night control firing at the Pogonovo training ground in the Voronezh region.

During the firing, tank crews in groups of four combat vehicles had to hit more than 50 targets that imitated anti-tank missile systems in the trench, tanks, as well as enemy armored personnel carriers.

In addition to complicating tactical reception due to insufficient visibility at night, the servicemen were also given more complex introductions – in order to increase the rate of fire, the display time of dynamically appearing targets was reduced, and the range of fire was increased to 2.1 thousand meters, which demanded from the crews of the groups increased coherence and better interaction.

To successfully complete the mission, the servicemen used Sosna-U digital ballistic computers to engage moving targets, as well as thermal imaging and night sights.

In total, more than 300 tankers of the combined arms army of the Western Military District took part in the firing with a regular projectile, about 50 units of weapons, military and special equipment were involved.
