In the Kaliningrad region, at the Khmelevka training ground, a tactical exercise was conducted with servicemen of the Baltic Fleet marine battalion. The servicemen worked out the actions of subunits in defense in the conditions of the use of chemical warfare agents and repelled the attack of a simulated enemy amphibious assault.

According to the plan of the exercise, the personnel were alerted and secretly moved to the indicated area. According to intelligence, the conditional enemy on the sea coast was preparing a bridgehead. Here, the servicemen met him with the fire of the BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, thereby destroying the forward detachment of the conditional enemy and disrupting the landing of his main forces.

At the second stage of the exercise, the marines, as part of the company, entered into battle with the main forces of the simulated enemy landing force, which was advancing inland. With massed fire from dispersed units, they suppressed the offensive. In addition, the servicemen fired small arms at ground targets from the Mi-8 transport and combat helicopter. Then they parachuted from a height of 2-3 m in full combat gear.

During the exercise, the Marines improved their skills in the use of standard weapons and military equipment, practiced movement on the battlefield and equipped fortifications. The battalion tactical exercise involved about 500 servicemen, as well as over 40 units of military equipment.
