An image of the Hero of the Soviet Union, participant in the storming of Konigsberg, honorary veteran of Kaliningrad Mikhail Bulatov appeared on the facade of the building of the assembly point of the military commissariat of the Kaliningrad region.

The 20-year-old sapper received the Gold Star of Hero from the hands of Marshal of the Soviet Union Alexander Vasilevsky in 1945 for his heroism in battles in East Prussia. During the combat reconnaissance of the Konigsberg-Rauschen highway (now Kaliningrad-Svetlogorsk), Mikhail Bulatov, under heavy fire from German artillery, single-handedly discovered and neutralized 24 carefully camouflaged guided German landmines.

This made it possible to carry out the offensive of the Soviet troops on Konigsberg without delay. A memorial sign appeared on the site of this feat, which still stands today.

After the war, Mikhail Alekseevich lived in Kursk, headed the city Council of War and Labor Veterans, and repeatedly came to Kaliningrad. In the capital of the Amber Territory, a school and a street are named after him, on which a monument to the hero was erected last year. He himself did not live to see this event just a few months – he passed away in March 2020 at the age of 95.

The assembly point of the military commissariat of the Kaliningrad region is annually visited by more than 6 thousand young people of military age who arrive for military service both from the Kaliningrad region and from other regions of Russia.

Technical support and support for the creative process of the group of artists was provided by employees of one of the divisions of the Baltic Fleet branch of the Central Housing and Communal Administration of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, who prepared a place on the facade of the building and provided a special lift.
