Military railroad workers of the Eastern Military District (VVO) have begun the next stage of work on the reconstruction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline. Today, the development and removal of soil from the construction zone is being carried out, as well as the formation of the foundation of the future railway embankment.

Work on the development and removal of soil began at the sites of the BAM reconstruction, where the work on filling the roadside road has been completed, and the allotment strip has been cleared of vegetation.

With the help of heavy construction equipment, military railway workers clean the base of the future embankment from soil and take it to special quarries. After that, the cleared area is poured with a special non-draining soil.

In parallel with the formation of the embankment base, work continues to clean up the construction site of the strip from afforestation and fill the roadside road. Due to the presence of permafrost soils, work on cleaning the allotment strip from forest plantations is carried out without the use of construction equipment using only hand tools. Since the beginning of the work, military railway workers have already completed more than 30 percent of the planned preliminary work.

For the reconstruction of the BAM, more than 1000 servicemen were involved and more than 500 units of equipment for various purposes were involved.
