Separate Guards Salute Division named after Marshal of Artillery Vladimir Mikhalkin of the Western Military District (ZVO) made a festive artillery salute in honor of the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod.

At 20 o’clock, located at the monument to Alexander Nevsky, the crews of the ZIS-3 guns during the Great Patriotic War fired 20 blank artillery volleys. By tradition, each volley was dedicated to the outstanding residents of the city, the most important historical events and the exploits of the soldiers of Nizhny Novgorod.

Earlier, the servicemen made 500 km. march from the point of permanent deployment in Moscow.

A separate guards salute division fires artillery salutes on Defender of the Fatherland Day and Victory Day and on other days at the direction of the RF Minister of Defense. The battalion is equipped with 76-mm ZiS-3 cannons of the 1942 model and fireworks of various calibers based on the KamAZ car, as well as a special launch complex for the production of fireworks in the form of a Tricolor.
