“Submarines of the Yasen-M project, one of which is the Krasnoyarsk nuclear submarine missile cruiser, which we launched on July 30 in Severodvinsk, are the most important component of the foundation of our modern domestic submarine fleet. These boats are multifunctional, have a large modernization reserve and excellent shock capabilities. Operation of the first nuclear-powered submarine of the Yasen project, Severodvinsk, has confirmed all the technical qualities declared by the designers and embodied by the shipbuilders. The crew of the lead nuclear submarine of the Yasen-M project, Kazan, is currently working on combat training tasks, preparing to carry out combat services. On a series of nuclear-powered submarine cruisers of the Yasen-M project, the Main Command of the Navy has made great stakes. This is justified. Submarines of the series, built according to the Yasen-M project, are capable of protecting the interests of our Motherland in any point of the World Ocean, including in the Arctic. This is a reliable nuclear missile shield of our Motherland “- said the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, assessing the launch (withdrawal from the dock) at the Sevmash enterprise of the Krasnoyarsk nuclear submarine missile cruiser

Earlier, on July 30, the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, representatives of the relevant bodies Military Directorate of the Main Command of the Russian Navy, the command of the Northern Fleet and the White Sea Naval Base, General Director of United Shipbuilding Corporation JSC Alexey Rakhmanov, General Director of SPMBM Malakhit JSC Vladimir Dorofeev, General Director of PO SEVMASH JSC Mikhail Budnichenko, representatives administrations of the Arkhangelsk region, Severodvinsk and Krasnoyarsk.

The nuclear-powered submarine Krasnoyarsk of the Yasen-M project belongs to the 4th generation of nuclear-powered multipurpose submarines built to equip the Russian Navy’s Submarine Forces. Designer – St. Petersburg Marine Engineering Bureau “Malakhit”.

The withdrawal of the Krasnoyarsk APRK from the SEVMASH boathouse is the completion of a significant stage in the construction of a nuclear submarine. During the solemn ceremony, at a speed of about one meter per minute, the nuclear-powered ship began to move to the open gates of the workshop on the slipway train. Traditionally, the commander of the Krasnoyarsk APRK, Captain 2nd Rank Ivan Artyushin, broke a bottle of champagne on the submarine’s hull. Then APRK “Krasnoyarsk” continued to move to the filling basin of the enterprise. Within a few days, the Krasnoyarsk nuclear-powered missile submarine will be transferred to the enterprise’s embankment, where the completion process will continue.

As the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, noted in his speech at the Krasnoyarsk launching ceremony, “Today the newest nuclear-powered missile cruiser Krasnoyarsk has left the stocks of the Northern Machine-Building Enterprise (SEVMASH). Let me emphasize that this event took place in the year when we celebrate the 325th anniversary of the creation of the Russian regular fleet. Thanks to the advanced design solutions of one of the leading design bureaus “Malakhit”, the high quality of work of the shipbuilders “SEVMASH”, the Russian Oceanic Navy will be provided with the most modern and reliable nuclear submarines of the Yasen-M project in the long term. I am confident that the pace of construction of nuclear submarines of this project, taken by the SEVMASH enterprise, will allow them to be transferred to the Navy in the planned time frame with invariably high quality. “

“APRK” Krasnoyarsk “embodied the best achievements of the domestic nuclear submarine shipbuilding. The replenishment of the Submarine Forces with these submarines clearly demonstrates the stage of active equipping of our Navy with submarines and ships that have no analogues in the world. This will allow the Russian Navy to continue to effectively carry out the tasks of guaranteed prevention of any threats to the security of the state from sea and ocean directions. Each nuclear submarine of the Yasen-M project, with each nuclear missile cruiser built for the Navy, gains shipbuilding experience, which means that the time for the release of new ships is reduced. A submarine delivery plan has now been drawn up, and it is being completed on time. There are no breakdowns. The main advantage of submarines is stealth. This particular submarine is a huge step forward in terms of the hydroacoustic characteristics implemented on it, ”said Admiral Nikolai Evmenov.

As it was said at the ceremony in the speech of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, – “The bases of nuclear submarine cruisers of the Yasen-M project and the complex infrastructure in their places of deployment are completely ready for their operation.”

General Director of United Shipbuilding Corporation JSC Alexei Rakhmanov, in turn, noted at the ceremony “Our plans are on a strict schedule, we continue to work. The company’s management has been tasked with reducing the construction time for a series of submarines by approximately 9-14 months. Taking into account the tasks set before us by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, we are performing this task just in order to more actively equip the Submarine Forces of our Navy. In the process of construction and here, as could be seen at the ceremony of withdrawal of the APRK “Krasnoyarsk”, many people are engaged and involved who are not indifferent to their work. And you see a lot of young people. This is so great that we are absolutely sure of the future of both Sevmash and the Russian Navy “

“Submariners not only serve on the Krasnoyarsk submarine, they live on it. Therefore, we are constantly working on issues of further improving the conditions on submarines. These are, first of all, lighting conditions, conditions of comfort, so that officers and sailors can after service, for example, have a full rest, read a book, do what they love, etc. “, – said Alexei Rakhmanov.

As the General Director of JSC SEVMASH Mikhail Budnichenko said at the ceremony, APRK Krasnoyarsk is a serial ship. This is an already realized experience gained. The serial ship is being built in a much shorter time frame. Everything has been worked out and tested. The Yasen-M project has a lot of mechanical engineering products of our own design. These are our author’s works and a number of innovative solutions that have been introduced during the construction of the submarine. We are building submarines in cooperation with the Malakhit design bureau and dozens of other organizations and institutions involved in cooperation in the creation of nuclear-powered missile submarine cruisers.

In turn, Vladimir Dorofeev, General Director of the design bureau of SPMBM Malakhit JSC, noted at the ceremony of launching the Krasnoyarsk APRK, “The leadership of the RF Ministry of Defense has set the task of serial construction of nuclear submarines with modernization stages tied to specific serial numbers. This is being strictly followed. The task of serial construction is a priority task. The design of these submarines is constantly evolving in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Defense. “

For reference:

The Krasnoyarsk nuclear submarine is the second Project 885 nuclear-powered missile submarine in the Yasen-M multipurpose nuclear submarine line. Laid down on July 27, 2014. The nuclear submarine missile cruiser was named after the largest cultural, economic, industrial and educational center of the Central
and Eastern Siberia, – the city of Krasnoyarsk. The APRK Krasnoyarsk also has naval historical roots: the same name – Krasnoyarsk – was borne by the third generation nuclear submarine of Project 949A (K-173), built at SEVMASH and transferred to the Navy on December 30, 1986 …

The lead ship of the series is the nuclear-powered submarine Kazan. There are a total of 8 nuclear submarines of this project in the series.

APRK Krasnoyarsk is a nuclear-powered multipurpose submarine, which is being built according to the improved Yasen-M project. The Yasen-M nuclear submarine project uses advanced technical solutions. The ships of this series will become the embodiment and concentration of the unique latest Russian developments in the field of military weapons, naval weapons, technical and radio-electronic complexes, and main power plants. Changes and technical solutions implemented in the Yasen-M project also concern the element base of radio-technical weapons complexes, modernized equipment and materials produced by Russian cooperation enterprises involved in the construction of submarines of this project. The improved design of the Yasen-M submarine has fundamentally new architectural features of the hull.

After the APRK “Krasnoyarsk” is withdrawn from the boathouse, all the necessary stages of completion, as well as factory and state tests, will pass.

According to the Naval Doctrine and the plans of the Main Command of the Russian Navy, in the short term, nuclear submarines of the Yasen-M project will form the basis of the multipurpose component of the Submarine Forces of the Navy.
