A group of 250 servicemen of the Armed Forces of India has arrived at the Gumrak international airport in the city of Volgograd, who will take part in the joint Russian-Indian exercise of ground forces “Indra-2021”.
From the airport, Indian servicemen went to a field camp at the Prudboy training ground of the Southern Military District (YuVO) in the Volgograd region.
Exercise “Indra-2021” will take place at the Prudboy training ground from August 1 to August 13. It will be attended by 250 servicemen of motorized rifle, tank and artillery units, a reconnaissance company of a motorized rifle unit of the Southern Military District, stationed in the Volgograd region, as well as a tactical group of 250 servicemen of the Armed Forces of India.
The events involve more than 100 units of weapons and military equipment, including armored combat tracked vehicles BMP-3, T-90A tanks, Grad multiple launch rocket systems, armored personnel carriers, off-road vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles, assault and army aviation Southern Military District, as well as about 300 different targets, of which over 100 are mobile, imitating enemy vehicles and armored vehicles.
The task of the exercise is to increase the readiness of command and control bodies, forces and means to combat terrorism. Servicemen will carry out tactical actions to search, detect and destroy illegal armed groups, search and destroy conventional explosive devices, conduct radiation, chemical and biological reconnaissance in buildings and on the ground.
International joint activities are carried out in accordance with the plan of international activities and are aimed at strengthening and developing military cooperation between countries.
The plan for the combat training of the Southern Military District in 2021 provides for the participation of the district’s military personnel in international exercises with units of the armed forces of Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Armenia, Algeria, India, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and Egypt.
