At the Prudboy training ground of the Southern Military District (YuVO) in the Volgograd region, the newest autonomous field camp APL-500 has been erected for the comfortable accommodation of participants in the joint Russian-Indian exercise of ground forces “Indra-2021”.

The camp consists of frame tents made of modern composite materials. The APL-500 is designed to accommodate 500 military personnel, one tent is designed to accommodate 16 people. The quality of materials, convenience and thoughtfulness of the camp meet the highest requirements for comfortable living in the field.

The camp is equipped with a kitchen, laundry room, showers, toilets, diesel generator sets, providing uninterrupted power supply. A comfortable temperature in tents in the summer is provided by air conditioners, and in cold weather – by powerful heaters.

Also, the camp is equipped with lighting masts, rubber tracks, security and fire alarm systems and video surveillance with a video signal output to the monitors of the duty shift.

The Indra-2021 exercise will take place at the Prudboy training ground in the Volgograd region from August 1 to August 13 this year. It will be attended by 250 servicemen of motorized rifle, tank and artillery units, a reconnaissance company of a motorized rifle unit of the Southern Military District, stationed in the Volgograd region, as well as a tactical group of 250 servicemen of the Armed Forces of India.

The events involve more than 100 units of weapons and military equipment, including armored combat tracked vehicles BMP-3, T-90A tanks, Grad multiple launch rocket systems, armored personnel carriers, off-road vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles, assault and army aviation Southern Military District, as well as about 300 different targets, of which over 100 are mobile, imitating enemy vehicles and armored vehicles.

The task of the exercise is to increase the readiness of command and control bodies, forces and means to combat terrorism. The servicemen will carry out tactical actions to search, detect and destroy illegal armed formations, search and destroy conventional explosive devices, conduct radiation, chemical and biological reconnaissance in buildings and on the ground.

International joint activities are carried out in accordance with the plan of international activities and are aimed at strengthening and developing military cooperation between countries.

The plan for the combat training of the Southern Military District in 2021 provides for the participation of the district’s military personnel in international exercises with units of the armed forces of Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Armenia, Algeria, India, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and Egypt.
