Military railroad workers of the Eastern Military District (VVO) began excavation work in the areas of reconstruction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) in permafrost conditions.

In the course of preparatory work for the reconstruction of the BAM, military railway workers constantly have to face sudden difficulties due to the presence of swampy and permafrost soils in the places of work. The depth of the soil layers is from two to three meters. The complexity of work in such conditions lies in the instability of the soil surface in places where preparatory work is carried out.

Dips form on the dumped roads, which complicates the work of heavy construction equipment. As a result, it requires an increase in the thickness of the road surface, additional strengthening of the roadbed and slopes with rocky soil. In some areas, the thickness of the road surface reaches 1.5 – 2 meters.

Since the beginning of the work, the military railway workers have already dumped near-highway roads on a section of about 10 kilometers. About 50 thousand cubic meters of rocky soil were mined from quarries and taken to the construction sites.
