A car that was used and imported from abroad must, after passing through customs procedures, be sent to a testing laboratory for the necessary checks, and a certificate of its safety can be issued in electronic form, Andrei Vasiliev, director of the NI Center for Technical Expertise of FSUE NAMI, told RIA Novosti.

Earlier it was reported that the new rules for the safety inspection and certification of used cars imported into Russia began to operate on July 1, 2021 – GOST 33670-2015 “Single automobile vehicles. Methods of examination and testing for conformity assessment” came into force. He ordered car owners to submit the imported car to a testing laboratory for verification, its remote assessment is no longer available.

“After passing all the necessary customs procedures, the car and the documents for it are submitted to the testing laboratory for carrying out the necessary checks. In case of a positive result of the checks, the Vehicle Design Safety Certificate (SBCTS) is issued for the car, and then a vehicle passport (PTS) is issued on its basis. “, – said Vasiliev.

He clarified that now the SBKTS can be issued, like the PTS, in electronic form. All documents will be sent to the owner by e-mail after their registration, and there will be no need to travel to obtain them.

Vasiliev also said that the testing laboratory “is an organization equipped with the equipment necessary for conducting inspections and having a staff of qualified testers and experts.”
