At the Raevsky training ground near Novorossiysk, the paratroopers of the guards air assault Kuban Cossack and artillery regiments worked out forcing the water barrier.

The lesson was conducted under the guidance of Colonel Viktor Orlov, deputy commander of the formation for armaments of the Guards.

During the practical lesson, the paratroopers worked out the elements of training the fourth generation BMD-4M airborne assault vehicles, armored personnel carriers BTR-MDM “Shell”, recently entered service with the Novorossiysk mountain airborne forces, 120-mm self-propelled artillery guns 2S9 “Nona-S” and armored personnel carriers BTR -82A to overcome water obstacles by locking and single driving of standard equipment afloat.

Before the classes, all students underwent special training in emergency escape of combat vehicles on simulators, passed theoretical tests in knowledge of safety requirements and the conditions of the exercise being performed.

Before the start of the crossing, a special reconnaissance unit landed on the opposite shore of Lake Soldatskoe with the help of floating craft to support the actions of the main forces.

Classes on overcoming water obstacles are an integral part of the training of driver mechanics for airborne assault and self-propelled artillery units and are designed to form a sense of confidence in trainees when driving standard equipment in the most extreme conditions.

More than 20 units of military and special equipment were involved in the lesson, which immediately before the beginning of the lesson underwent special processing and sealing of all compartments.
