In Kabardino-Balkaria, in the village of Terskol, on the basis of the Center for Mountain Training and Survival, a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners and prize-winners of the all-army stage of the competition for the best high-mountain unit “Elbrus Ring” ARMI-2021 was held.

According to the results of the competition, the first place was taken by the team of the Airborne Forces. The unit scored 12,772 points for completing 15 special tasks, ahead of its closest rival – the Rosgvardia team – by 151 points. The paratroopers will represent the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation at the international stage of the Elbrus Ring, which will be held from August 22 to September 4 at the Terskol sports center.

“The competition of high-mountain subdivisions was held for 14 days. We watched with interest the honest and uncompromising struggle of the strongest teams, which brilliantly demonstrated their outstanding skills and set new records. The competition was held in the Elbrus region at the highest point in Europe – Mount Elbrus. It has become a bright page in the history of army sports and mountain training in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, ”explained Colonel Andrei Zykov, head of the Physical Training and Sports Department of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

A concert dedicated to the closing of the Elbrus Ring was held as part of the solemn event. The creative teams of the republic and the military orchestra of the Southern Military District performed before the participants of the competition.

The all-army stage of the international competition for the best high-mountain unit “Elbrus Ring” is held in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic on the basis of the Terskol Mountain Training and Survival Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. It is attended by more than 150 military personnel of the high-mountain units of the power departments of the Russian Federation in nine teams from the military districts, the Ground Forces, the Northern Fleet, the Airborne Forces and the Federal Service of the National Guard Troops. For the first time, a team from the Federal Security Service participates in the competition. The competition will end on August 4.

The competitions are held as part of the 2021 International Army Games and have a military-applied focus. The Elbrus Ring is being held on a similar scale for the seventh time.
