On August 10, in the city of Cakovec, Republic of Croatia, for the first time under the auspices of the International Sports Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers, the opening ceremony of the X World Championship among youths and juniors and the VI World Championship among girls and juniors in fire and rescue sports took place.

The opening ceremony of the competition was attended by the Governor of the Medzhimur region, Mr. Mateja Posavets, the director of the Executive Committee of the International Sports Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers, Andrey Kalinin, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Croatia, Andrey Nesterenko, the President of the Sports Association of Croatian Firefighters, Mr. Radavan Zadravets, and other honored guests.

Teams from 9 countries came to compete for the World Champions Cup: Russia, Belarus, Bulgaria, India, Latvia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Croatia and Estonia. The Russian team is represented by girls and boys, students of colleges and universities of the EMERCOM of Russia.

“It is a great honor and responsibility for us, despite all the difficulties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic in the world, to hold international events of global importance and show guests and participants of competitions from different countries the beauty, culture and hospitality of the Croatian land,” said the Governor Mezhdimurskaya region, on the territory of which international competitions are held.

Recall that on the eve of the World Championships in Podolsk, the coaching staff of the VDPO held a training camp for teams of boys and girls of the Russian Federation.
