Their total length exceeds 13 thousand kilometers.

More than 50 kilometers of water supply networks have been reconstructed since the beginning of the year by specialists of the municipal economy complex, said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for housing and communal services and landscaping. Peter Biryukov.

“In the capital, large-scale systematic work continues to update engineering communications. The measures taken make it possible to increase the safety of network operation and avoid possible failures in their operation, ”said the Deputy Mayor.

Moscow is the leader among other Russian cities in the renewal of engineering systems. Over the past 10 years, the city has been renewing them annually and decreasing wear and tear by 2.4 percent. The metropolitan water supply networks are the longest in the country – their total length exceeds 13 thousand kilometers.

“Network reconstruction works are carried out in all districts of the capital, and more than 90 percent are carried out using trenchless technologies. For example, a new pipeline is being pulled through an existing pipe, polymer sleeves are used for restoration, the method of horizontal directional drilling is used, ”noted Pyotr Biryukov.

The use of modern trenchless technologies makes it possible to reduce earthwork, and the looping of the Moscow central water supply system makes it possible to carry out its maintenance and repair without disconnecting subscribers.

All this ultimately minimizes the discomfort for residents and ensures reliable water supply to the capital, added Pyotr Biryukov.
