In the Primorsky Territory, at the Sergeevsky training ground, the grand opening of the joint Russian-Lao military exercise “Laros-2021” took place. During the ceremony, Lieutenant General Sergei Sevryukov, Deputy Commander of the Eastern Military District (VVO), Major General Aleksey Podivilov, Commander of the VVO Combined Arms Army, and Major General Saytyay Kommasit, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the People’s Army of Laos, greeted the servicemen of Russia and Laos, announced the start of teachings. The opening ceremony ended with a joint ceremonial passage.

The exercise will last until August 19. It is planned firing by tank crews, a drawing of tactical actions with a stage of combat firing. There is also a cultural and leisure program and sports competitions between the servicemen of Russia and Laos. This combat training event has an anti-terrorist orientation and is being held for the second time. The first such exercise took place in 2019 in Laos.

In total, about 500 servicemen of the two countries are involved in the exercise, about 100 units of military equipment, including Su-25 attack aircraft and Ka-52 air defense attack helicopters. The Laotian servicemen will use the Russian armored vehicles provided to them.
