The crews of the Ka-27PL carrier-based anti-submarine helicopters of the Baltic Fleet’s naval aviation unit conducted an exercise to search, track and destroy a simulated enemy submarine with practical bombing.

In the course of the planned exercise, the crews of the Ka-27PL anti-submarine helicopters worked out a set of tasks for searching, detecting, classifying, maintaining contact and tracking, as well as countering a simulated enemy submarine using various anti-submarine weapons systems.

According to the legend, a simulated enemy submarine was discovered in one of the training grounds in the Baltic Sea, carrying out reconnaissance for a group of ships of the Baltic Fleet. Ka-27PL helicopters of the naval aviation of the fleet were sent to the specified area to search for and counteract the submarine. During the patrol, the crews worked out the tasks of finding and tracking the submarine with the integrated use of radar and sonar equipment. After detecting and determining the coordinates of the submarine, the pilots destroyed a special simulated underwater target using P-50 T aerial bombs from the air.

An imitation of a simulated enemy submarine was carried out using a naval reference bomb (OMAB).

The flights and practical bombing were carried out along the established route over the water area of the sea range of the Baltic Fleet. The flight of naval aviation was preceded by thorough preparation with checking the readiness of the engineering staff, ground services and specialists to ensure flight training tasks.
