Two students received gold, and one student received silver.
Moscow schoolchildren have won three awards at the 17th International Geography Olympiad. Rustam Bigildin from School No. 1498 “Moscow International School” and Nikita Panfilov from School “Letovo” received gold, Olga Ovchinnikova from school No. 1561 won silver. Sergey Sobyanin told about this on his page in the social network “VKontakte”.
Together with Moscow students, Elena Agapova from St. Petersburg, who received a silver award, performed on the Russian team. In total, the national team has four medals.
The Olympiad was held in a distance format from 11 to 15 August. Teams from 46 countries took part in it. Turkey was the host country. All participants were given tasks in English. The International Geography Olympiad has been held since 1996. It is attended by students aged 16 to 19 years old from different countries of the world who have successfully performed at national competitions in geography. The national team should have no more than four students.
In Moscow, for schoolchildren who are fond of geography, free classes are held at the Center for Pedagogical Excellence. They are led by experienced teachers, professors and the best students of the geographical faculties of the leading universities in the capital. To get into the training group, just write by mailand come to class. Also for beginners there is a “Circle of Champions” of the Association of Olympiad Winners. And candidates for the Moscow team attend special classes and training camps.
At the moment, international Olympiads in economics, computer science, mathematics, linguistics, biology, physics, chemistry and geography have ended. Moscow schoolchildren have won 13 gold and four silver medals. Ahead are the competition in astronomy and astrophysics and the natural science Olympiad for juniors.
