On August 20, in Novosibirsk, a team of 10 cadets from the Karavella children’s maritime center, sponsored by the Main Command of the Navy, went to the channel complex of the Siberian State University of Water Transport to conduct a practical training in the fight for ship damage.

The onshore training and simulator center of the university allows training specialists in the following programs: “Initial safety training in accordance with Regulation VI / 1 of MK STCW”, “Preparation for fighting a fire according to an expanded program” lifeboats other than fast rescue boats. “

University staff introduced the caravel residents to collective life-saving equipment – open and closed boats, their construction, equipment, as well as the procedure for preparing floating craft for launching. The cadets especially remembered practical exercises related to the search and rescue of a person in a smoky compartment, fighting a fire in the compartment and sealing various holes with the flow of sea water.

Such practice-oriented classes allow young sailors to better understand the specifics of naval activities and to determine the choice of their future profession.

The Children’s Maritime Center “Karavella” is one of the leading organizations in Russia among institutions of additional education for children. For 40 years of work, more than 3,000 people have passed through training at the Caravelle Medical Center, and graduates of the institution actively choose to enter naval higher educational institutions after graduation.
