Sniper pairs of special forces formations of the Western Military District (ZVO) have embarked on a new course of special training in firing at unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and ground targets of a simulated enemy from Mi-35 helicopters. Trainings take place in the skies over the Leningrad, Tver, Nizhny Novgorod and Voronezh regions.

Ground static and dynamic targets designate manpower and firing points of a conventional enemy. Information about the detected target is sent to the control panel of the duty forces, then the coordinates are transmitted to the sniper group, after which the snipers are promptly boarding the helicopter and taking off.

The helicopter crew is required to work out and coordinate with the sniper the moment of hovering and maximum immobility of the vehicle in order to fire a shot at the target.

Snipers are firing at a record range – up to two kilometers. In total, more than 200 military personnel are involved in special training, six Mi-35 helicopters are involved.
