Forty-nine battle banners of military units that participated in the battles of the Great Patriotic War will be handed over to the historical museums of eleven constituent entities of the Russian Federation in the South of Russia during the military-technical forum of the Southern Military District (YuVO).

The commander of the Southern Military District, General of the Army Alexander Dvornikov, approved ten locations for solemn ceremonies and eighteen locations for the subsequent placement and storage of panels.

So in the Rostov region, historical relics will be transferred to the people’s military-historical complex “Sambek Heights”, as well as the main temple of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don. Places of new museum exhibits will be occupied by the battle banners of the 103rd Guards Rifle Nizhnednistrovsky Regiment and the 15th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Order of the Red Star of the Simferopol Division.

The flags of the 184th rifle Dukhovshchinskaya Red Banner division, the 164th tank brigade, 1047 and 1026 rifle regiments will be transferred to the museums of the Volgograd region. Military relics will be placed in the panorama museum “Battle of Stalingrad” and in the Kalachev branch of the “Volgograd Regional Museum of Local Lore”.

Also, at the sites of the VTF Southern Military District, the transfer of battle flags will take place in the capital of Adygea, Maikop, to the national museum of the republic, and in the Patriot park of the city of Stavropol to the state historical and cultural natural landscape museum-reserve named after G.N. Prozriteleva and G.K. Prava.

The banners, handed over at the Forum in Vladikavkaz, will be exhibited for inspection in the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin and in the National Museum of North Ossetia-Alania.

Also, historical military relics will be in the museums of military glory in Astrakhan and Makhachkala, in the state museum of local lore in Krasnodar, in the Memorial Complex of Glory. A.A. Kadyrov in Grozny.

For the transfer of twelve battle flags to the Crimea and Sevastopol, a solemn ceremony will be held at the site of the Sevastopol Patriot Park. For the placement of historical relics, storage sites have been determined in the Sevastopol Cathedral of the Museum of Defense, the Kerch Museum of the History of Defense of the Adzhimushkai Quarries, the Feodosia Museum of Local Lore of Antiquities and in Simferopol in the Crimean Museum of History and Local Lore.

At the moment, 34 banners have been handed over to representatives of the command of the combined arms formations, the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla for restoration work and preparation of the banners for the solemn ceremonies of transferring them to the museums of Military Glory.

15 battle banners will be handed over to the Southern Military District at the Cathedral Square of the Main Church of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Kubinka near Moscow.

Earlier, as part of a working trip to the troops of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don, when visiting the Sambek Heights museum complex, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, instructed to replace the copies of the military banners of the Red Army units that were liberating Rostov region from the Nazis, originals.
