In turn, the Ministry of Sports of Russia noted that the holding of the WTCR World Cup stage emphasizes the importance and relevance of the Sochi Autodrom facility for holding major sporting events.

“The WTCR World Cup is the world’s main touring car tournament. Sochi Autodrom has a license of the highest category Grade 1 from the FIA, it allows to hold competitions of any difficulty level. The fact that such a significant event as the final of a prestigious series will take place at the Sochi Autodrome is a clear demonstration of the quality and international relevance of the object. This is very important for the development of motorsport in Russia, ”stressed the Minister of Sports of Russia Oleg Matytsin.

The WTCR is the International Touring Cup, sanctioned by the FIA ​​as the highest class of light car competition. The WTCR rules provide for the following racing weekend format, consisting of two free practices, qualifying and two races. In accordance with the TCR technical regulations, front-wheel drive four- and five-door sports sedans or hatchbacks take part in the Cup.
