At the autodrome of the Qatar Military Police Force camp, the grand opening of the Road Patrol competition took place for the first time in the Gulf country as part of the International Army Games (ARMI-2021).
The ceremony was attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the State of Qatar, Lieutenant General Ganin bin Shahin al-Ganin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to the State of Qatar Nurmakhmad Kholov, members of the Russian community, as well as representatives of the military departments of Turkey, Egypt and Jordan.
On behalf of the Russian side, the senior Russian delegation, Major General Leonid Chumakov, made a welcoming speech. He noted the importance of the event and stressed that the International Army Games provide another opportunity for close contact, contributing to the strengthening of the military-political ties of the participating countries. He expressed gratitude to the leadership of the State of Qatar for the opportunity to organize and conduct the competition.

Today the competition began with an individual race, where the Russian team competes first. Automobile inspectors and military policemen of Qatar, Russia, Belarus, Iran and Uzbekistan will have to overcome numerous obstacles in Japanese-made cars: a slope, an overpass, a hill, a railway crossing, a “snake” and an overall yard. In addition to driving skills, participants must hit popper targets with Gloсk pistols and AKM assault rifles provided by the country by the organizer of the competition.
The most spectacular stages of the competition will take place from 23 to 26 August. During two stages, servicemen will take part in an individual race, demonstrate skills in extreme driving, acceleration and emergency braking, as well as wheel change. Team captains will have a separate discipline – extreme parallel parking. In addition to the basic exercises, participants outside of the general team classification will demonstrate mastery of traffic regulation.
The International Army Games-2021 will be held from August 22 to September 4, 2021 on the territory of 11 states (Russia, Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, Vietnam, Iran, Qatar, Kazakhstan, China, Serbia, Uzbekistan).
