The feature film “Sky” directed by Igor Kopylov is based on the story of the death of military pilot Oleg Peshkov and the rescue of navigator Konstantin Murakhtin in 2015 in Syria. Filming took place at the facilities of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, including the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation, the Lipetsk Aviation Center and the Khmeimim airbase in Syria.

For reference:

Oleg Peshkov’s Su-24 was shot down by a Turkish fighter jet in northern Syria on November 24, 2015. The crew managed to eject. Navigator Konstantin Murakhtin survived and was rescued. Later, all the terrorists who participated in this shooting were destroyed, and the deceased pilot was awarded the title of Hero of Russia posthumously.
