The path will be made in the form of an eco-trail, along which local residents will be able to safely get to the nearest metro station.

An additional walking route will appear this year between the areas of Yuzhnoye Medvedkovo and Otradnoye. Now, in the floodplain of the Chermyanka River, in the section from Dezhnev Passage to Molodtsova Street, work is underway to strengthen the slope with the help of a gabion structure. It will protect the coast from destruction and will create a full-fledged transit route over it for local residents.

“The slope is located in the northern part of the park – in the area of house 25, building 2 in Yasny proezd, the Chermyanka river flows under it. For a long time, residents had to move along it along a disorganized, uncomfortable and, one might say, dangerous path. This is the shortest route for the residents of Yasny proezd, along which they can reach the neighboring Otradnoye district, where the nearest metro station “Bibirevo” is located, ”said the deputy head

Department of capital repairs of Moscow Sergey Melnikov.

The new footpath will be only 60 meters long, but it will be very important for those who live nearby. It will be made according to the principle of an eco-trail: screw piles will be mounted, a structure will be formed with the help of a metal frame, and then they will be lined with a special terrace board. For safety, the structure is equipped with a handrail.

“Before that, the slope, along which the new path will run, needs to be strengthened: for this, a gabion structure was chosen. The method of strengthening slopes with the help of gabions has been used for a long time. They not only make the slopes durable, but also serve as a decorative function. Moreover, they fit perfectly into the landscape, ”added Sergey Melnikov.

Gabions are galvanized welded mesh boxes. They are filled with rubble stone and fastened into a solid monolithic structure. In this part of the park, the structure is assembled according to the pyramid principle: at the very bottom there is a stable base and as the height increases, the length of the box decreases. The stones in each “basket” are laid by hand so that they lie as tightly as possible to each other and there are minimal voids between them.

The main advantage of such designs is flexibility. The mesh from which the boxes are made is able to withstand any loads and will not tear due to its flexibility. In case of destruction, erosion, shifting or sliding of the soil under the gabions, the structure will only bend, but it will remain intact and will continue to perform protective functions.

The work is carried out as part of a comprehensive improvement and gardening floodplains of the Chermyanka river. They are scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of this year.
