The design documentation for the construction of the Moscow branch of the Hermitage Museum on the territory of the former ZIL industrial zone has been approved.
“Experts from Mosgosexpertiza have approved a project for the construction of a five-storey branch of the Hermitage Museum on the territory of the reorganized ZIL industrial zone. The new museum will be located at the intersection of the Vesnin Brothers Boulevard and Rodchenko Street, ”said the chairman of Moskomexpertiza
According to the project, premises for preparing exhibits for exhibitions, a darkroom, storage areas for exhibits and premises for the maintenance service will be located on the underground floor. On the ground floor, a showroom, a hall with an information desk, a souvenir and book store, an interactive area, a conference room, a restaurant, as well as office and utility rooms will be equipped. Showrooms will be located from the second to the fifth floor. The building will have two escalators and three elevators of different carrying capacities.
“A large-scale program is being implemented in the capital to reorganize the former ZIL industrial zone. In addition to residential development, social and public-business facilities are being actively built, and transport infrastructure is being developed. For example, on the territory of the former ZIL industrial zone there is already a school for 2,500 students, the CSKA Arena sports complex, the Anastasia Davydova Olympic synchronized swimming center and the Aquatoria ZIL sports complex with a swimming pool, ”added Valery Leonov.
The adjacent territory will be landscaped. There will be verandas of restaurants, bike paths, benches and trash bins, lawns and flower beds, shrubs, and a parking lot.
