A unified multipurpose parachute platform UMPP is being created, designed for parachute landing of Typhoon-VDV armored vehicles and cargo with an airborne mass of up to 18 tons, “said the Commander of the Airborne Forces.

“Research and development of planning parachute guided systems designed for parachute landing of cargoes to a designated area with high accuracy is underway. Such systems will make it possible to drop loads weighing from 250 to 400 kg from altitudes from 1000 to 10000 m, with the distance of the drop point from the landing point – up to 50 km. and landing accuracy – up to 50 m, ”added Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov.

He also said that for the high-altitude landing of special-purpose units, a special-purpose parachute system with special equipment “Junker-O” was adopted, which allows airborne personnel from heights of up to 10,000 m. aircraft of the Il-76 type are already being put into service with the PGS-1500 parachute-cargo system.

“This year, the Airborne Forces plans to provide two more BMD-4M paratrooper battalions with new landing equipment. All parachute systems allow for the safe landing of personnel, equipment and cargo, “said the commander of the Airborne Forces.
