The servicemen of the mountain formation of the Central Military District (CVO), stationed in the Republic of Tyva, have begun a multi-kilometer march on standard equipment to the area where military contingents of the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian region of the CSTO “Rubezh-2021” are conducting exercises. The event will take place at the Edelweiss test site, located in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The servicemen, having overcome the Buibinsky pass in the foothills of the Western Sayan, completed a 400-kilometer march from Kyzyl to a railway point in the city of Abakan. Then they loaded about 40 units of military and special equipment onto the platforms. The work was carried out in the daytime in compliance with safety requirements. The servicemen will overcome most of the route as part of a military echelon by rail.

According to the concept of the upcoming event, the participants will work out the preparation and conduct of a joint military operation to block and destroy illegal armed formations that have invaded the territory of a member state of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

Earlier, the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, said that nine international combat training events will take place during the summer training period (on the territory of Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan). The main event of joint training of troops will be the anti-terrorist exercise Peace Mission 2021.
