In Belarus, at the Brestsky training ground, within the framework of the first stage of the international competition for special forces “Polar Star” ARMI-2021, teams of nine countries in conditions as close as possible to combat, demonstrated skills in providing first aid and evacuating a conditional wounded from the area of hostilities, and also in mine explosives.
According to the terms of the competition task “Evacuation”, the scout-sanitary instructor had to find the wounded soldier, assess the nature of the injury, provide primary medical care using a hemostatic tourniquet and applying a bandage to prepare him for evacuation to a safe place. At this time, his partner provided fire cover for the evacuation, during which he had to hit ten targets at ranges from 50 to 150 meters from the AKS-74 assault rifle. At the same time, the panel of judges of the competition evaluated both the level of firepower training of the participants in the competition, and the quality of medical care and compliance with the rules for evacuating the wounded.
In the “Ambush” exercise, the contestants demonstrated their intelligence skills in the mining subgroup when installing and detonating a concentrated TNT charge weighing 2 kg. Scout miners from the Russian team took part in the exercise. The task of the first spetsnaz soldier included covert advance to the line of setting the charge, preparing and installing it on the ground in the likely sector of the enemy’s appearance, deploying an electric explosive network and returning to a safe shelter, where he checked the network and, when a target appeared in the controlled sector, set the TNT charge into action … His partner covered the miner during the installation of the charge.
When targets appeared, imitating the enemy’s head patrol, the miner put the TNT charge into action and, together with his partners from the AKS-74 assault rifles, destroyed the targets imitating the enemy’s separation. In total, the scouts had to destroy 8 targets located at a distance of 100 to 150 meters.
The international competition “Polar Star” among special-purpose units is held on the territory of the Republic of Belarus on the basis of the Brestsky training ground from August 22 to September 4 as part of the VII International Army Games. It is attended by teams of the armed forces of nine states – Russia, Belarus, Venezuela, India, Iran, China, Morocco, Pakistan, Uzbekistan.
The Russian team at international competitions is represented by the winners of the all-army stage of the Polar Star-2021 competition – the best scouts of the special forces of the Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In addition, the Rosgvardia team will take part in the competition on an out-of-competition basis.
The 2021 International Army Games will be held from August 22 to September 4 on the territory of 11 states (Russia, Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, Vietnam, Iran, Qatar, Kazakhstan, China, Serbia, Uzbekistan). In total, more than 5 thousand servicemen, consisting of 277 teams from 42 countries, take part in 34 competitions of ARMI-2021.
