In the Yaroslavl Region, during special exercises, engineering units of the Western Military District (ZVO) built a 9-kilometer railway bypass and built a floating bridge MLZH-VF-VT across the Volga with a length of up to 1.4 thousand meters.

According to the concept of the exercise, the railway junction was captured by a conditional enemy, and the bridge was destroyed by an air strike. Specialists of the railway troops of the Western Military District were tasked with building a bypass of this area and restoring a bridge crossing for the uninterrupted movement of military echelons and wheeled vehicles.

The exercise worked out such important tasks as: evacuation of damaged vehicles, conducting technical reconnaissance, extinguishing a fire with a fire train NARPZH-141, welding underwater by a diver, work of a ferry crossing PM-70, work of a railway ferry crossing. During the exercise, the latest developments of the region’s enterprises were used. Among them are boats and ATVs, as well as a new product of this year – a boat made of low pressure polyethylene.

A special exercise with engineering formations and military units to support the troops of the Western Military District takes place on the territory of military training grounds and special sites in the Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod, Leningrad, Vladimir, Bryansk and Kaliningrad regions.

In total, more than a thousand military personnel of the Western Military District were involved in the special exercises of the engineering troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, about 150 units of weapons, military and special equipment were involved.
