Experts will inspect the building and determine a complete list of works required to preserve it.

The Moscow government will provide a grant of 15 million rubles to the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education National Research Technical University MISIS. The decree on this was signed Sergei Sobyanin

These funds will be used in 2021 to carry out design and survey work to preserve the historic building of NUST MISIS at the address: Leninsky Prospekt, 6, building 1. It was built in the late 18th – early 19th centuries and rebuilt in the 20th century by architects A.N. Bakarev, M.D. Bykovsky, A.S. Kaminsky.

Over its more than 200-year history, the building has repeatedly changed its architectural appearance, but at the same time retained its educational function. Since the 1830s, the Moscow city bourgeois school was located here. In Soviet times, the Moscow Mining Academy was opened in its place, the successor of which is NUST MISIS. In July 1941, units of the 1st division of the people’s militia of the Leninsky district of Moscow were formed in the building.

Today, a cultural heritage site of regional significance, according to experts, needs comprehensive conservation and restoration work, including the elimination of late structures (extensions), redevelopments and finishing materials that distort the historical appearance of the building. The facades, ground floor lobby and staircase areas will also need to be refurbished.

A complete list of repair and restoration work will be determined based on the results of design and survey work. The restoration of the building on Leninsky Prospekt will be another important contribution to the revival of the historical appearance of the capital.
