The servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent have begun to ensure the safety of the newly built reservoir for the needs of the population and industry of Nagorno-Karabakh.

“This facility is located close to the contact line, which requires the presence of a Russian peacekeeping contingent,” said Aleksey Kolesnikov, a spokesman for the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

Hydraulic engineers have started engineering work to create an artificial reservoir near the demarcation line in the Mardakerd region.

“Here we are carrying out work on the storage of artesian water and for this purpose we turned to the command of the peacekeeping contingent to ensure security. The command of the peacekeeping contingent provided us with a unit that is currently ensuring the safety of the physical and security of our work. We are grateful to the peacekeeping contingent for their timely assistance, ”said the representative of the mining company Adam Grigoryan.

Work on the construction of a reservoir for storing reserves of underground and aboveground fresh water runoff is planned to be completed by the end of this year.

In accordance with the agreements specified in the joint statement of the President of the Russian Federation, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, from 00:00 Moscow time on November 10, 2020, a complete ceasefire and all hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh were announced.

A peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation is deployed to control the ceasefire and military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh.
