At the festival venues, it will be possible not only to admire the designer gardens and take spectacular photos, but also taste summer desserts and dishes prepared according to original recipes.
From September 1 to October 1, the Flower Jam festival will again take place in Moscow. This was reported by Sergei Sobyanin while visiting the site of the Moscow Seasons cycle of festivals in the Veshnyaki area.
“We will hold“ Flower Jam ”from September 1, there will be a landscape design competition, an exhibition of trees, shrubs, flowers, and trade. So at least after the peak of the covid pandemic, the city will come to its senses a little, despite the fact that there are problems anyway, but we are trying to make it live a normal life, ”the Moscow Mayor said.
Landscape designers will decorate the capital with compositions of a wide variety of plants and create cozy lounge areas. At the festival venues, it will be possible not only to admire the designer gardens and take spectacular photos (any day of the week), but also taste (from Thursday to Sunday) summer desserts and dishes prepared according to author’s recipes by the participants of the Summer in the City gastronomic fair.
The curators of the projects were the winners of the “Flower Jam” competition of previous years, experts and members of the jury. Foreign colleagues will support Russian designers. They note how important it is that the festival, despite the difficulties associated with the pandemic, will take place and Moscow will once again confirm the title of the most flourishing European capital and the trendsetter of gardening fashion.
Some of the projects of this festival are replicas of the best gardens of “Flower Jam” of the past. Others will be embodied for the first time.
Japanese garden, Russian forest and Empire-style gardens
A real Russian forest with slender birches, evergreen pines, spruces with real cones will appear on Revolution Square. Also, there you can see compositions of voluminous shrubs and flowers and even strawberries (as it should be in a real Russian forest). As conceived by the authors, the project refers to the history of Moscow, including the forests among which the capital was built and which surround it today. And the participants of the gastronomic project “Summer in the City” will treat you to Russian cuisine here: pancakes, borscht and pies.
The neighboring area, the transition from Manezhnaya Square to Revolution Square, will turn into a linden alley with flower beds in the classic Russian style. To create the composition, six-meter lindens are used in large tubs-boxes, made in the neo-Russian style. Mini-rose gardens and bright flower gardens will be created in the same format.
Stoleshnikov Lane will turn into a real southern resort. The dominant feature of the luxurious garden will be a pergola entwined with lush wisteria and climbing roses. Other southern plants will also be used in the project.
On Kuznetsky Most Street at the entrance to the Central Department Store, the composition “Garden of Aquatic Plants” will be created. Made in the form of a stylized figure of a fish, it will be framed by willows, compositions of yellow bamboo, reeds, flowering cannes, waists, as well as other flowers and plants that can be seen near the shores of the pond. The central part will be occupied by huge aquarium cubes with nymphs and other aquatic plants.
It will also be possible to go on a great flower journey at the surrounding sites. Thus, in Koptev, Yuzhny Butovo, Golyanovo and Zelenograd, landscape designers will create the atmosphere of a southern resort with installations of Crimean roses, fragrant lavender and other plants characteristic of the peninsula.
The sites on Orekhovy Boulevard, Profsoyuznaya and Matveyevskaya streets will be decorated with French mini-gardens of lavender, petunias, box trees, roses and sage. The French theme is supported by a gastronomic program. So, at Profsoyuznaya they will offer to buy culinary lavender or enjoy a cheese ice cream.
In Kurkino, the flower arrangement of the site will resemble a classic Japanese garden with traditional elements and plants. Bonsai of small conifers and large shrubs, dwarf willows, arrays of flowering irises, arranged in accordance with the canons of Japanese garden art, will create the effect of a trip to the Land of the Rising Sun. As part of the Summer in the City gastronomic project, these venues will offer natural ice cream with an unusual taste: strawberry glade, green tea with mint, cranberries in sugar, and rum bumblebee.
Gardens in the Empire style will be laid out on Glory Square, Dmitry Donskoy Boulevard and Mitinskaya Street. Ceremonial flower arrangements proposed for the decoration of sites (voluminous arrays of greenery, lush flower beds of hydrangeas and roses) are a reference to the classic examples of gardening art. What to try at these sites? Homemade lemonades, jam from flowers, herbs and fruits, marmalade, marshmallow and candied fruit.
The flower decoration of the grounds on Gorodetskaya and Pererve Streets will be designed in the style of a medieval castle park. There will be bosquets, ancient stone fountain bowls with lush flower arrangements, as well as climbing plants and roses.
In Kosino-Ukhtomsky, Brateev and Teply Stan, the sites will be decorated in a merchant style. They will be dedicated to the subjects of Russian fairy tales. The sites will be decorated with coniferous and deciduous trees, lush shrubs, cereals typical for central Russia. Here you can taste apple pie, Spanish tortilla, grilled rapana, pancakes with zucchini jam and other unusual dishes.
At all sites, you will need to take precautions: wear masks, use sanitizers and keep a social distance of one and a half meters.
A full list of sites and their descriptions will soon appear on website.
