A sample of the UTS-800 trainer aircraft, designed and built at the Ural Civil Aviation Plant

During the work of the Army-2021 International Military-Technical Forum at the Kubinka airfield, the first deputy chairman of the military-industrial complex board, Andrey Yelchaninov, was presented with a sample of the UTS-800 trainer aircraft designed and built at the Ural Civil Aviation Plant.

The newest UTS-800 aircraft is part of the training complex and is designed for initial flight training, professional selection of military aviation pilots, and is also focused on operation in flight educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense, DOSAAF flying clubs and other organizations. The aircraft is equipped with all modern flight safety systems and is not inferior to foreign counterparts in terms of payload, thrust-to-weight ratio and maneuverability. The aircraft components are exclusively Russian-made, and the airframe itself is made of domestic composite materials.

In addition to the UTS-800 aircraft, the complex includes ground handling equipment, an objective control system and a set of technical training aids for solving problems of initial flight training day and night in simple and difficult weather conditions, including training in piloting techniques (circle flights, complex and aerobatics), performing a spin and taking it out of it, practicing instrument piloting (under the curtain) during en-route flight and landing approach using airfield landing systems, including in a group and in poor weather conditions.

“The UZGA plant has done the most difficult work to create the newest training aircraft from scratch, which our Armed Forces really need. The UTS-800 aircraft is unique in almost everything – a composite glider manufactured at UZGA, a Russian engine, the latest radio-technical systems that allow simulating almost any special situation for each pilot.

A group of UTS-800 designers did an excellent job, who during the construction invited active pilots for consultations and subsequently took into account their comments. The result is a convenient and versatile, compact and beautiful, light, powerful and maneuverable aircraft, made on the principle of the great Russian aircraft designer S.V. Ilyushin: if you want to make a reliable aircraft, make a simple aircraft. The plant’s management ensured a modern approach to the creation of the aircraft, focused on the low cost of both its production and operation, which is very important in the current difficult economic conditions, ”noted Andrey Yelchaninov.
