On August 25-26, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov paid a working visit to the Republic of Austria.

During a meaningful conversation with the Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria S. Kurz and negotiations with his Austrian counterpart A. Schallenberg, a set of issues of bilateral cooperation was discussed, including trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and inter-social relations, interaction in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Following the meeting with the activists of the Sochi Dialogue Public Forum established in 2019 by the presidents of Russia and Austria, a high assessment was given of its activities aimed at the comprehensive development of contacts between the civil societies of the two countries.

A detailed exchange of views took place on a number of topical international issues, on the themes of the Russia-EU dialogue, interaction within the UN and other international organizations. The situation in Ukraine was touched upon separately.

The Minister also held meetings with Russian compatriots living in Austria and with representatives of Austrian business circles. The Minister held a conversation with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) R. Grossi.
