During the talks, an overview of the main topics of the bilateral agenda was carried out, and the schedule of upcoming political contacts was discussed. Particular attention was paid to the development of interaction with Italy in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields. They confirmed their mutual desire to continue coordinating efforts aimed at countering coronavirus infection and overcoming the consequences of the pandemic. The importance of creating conditions for ensuring unimpeded travel of citizens, taking into account the development of the sanitary and epidemiological situation in both countries, was noted.

Key issues of the international agenda, including cybersecurity and other modern challenges and threats, were examined in detail. The topics of Russian-Italian interaction within the framework of multilateral formats were touched upon, primarily in the G20, where Italy ends its chairmanship in December 2021, as well as in the context of promoting the peace process in Afghanistan.
