In the Ryazan Region, as part of the exercise of the third stage of the Airborne Platoon international competition, a “patrol race” was held during the exercise “Orientation in squads without crews”.

Teams of five people went out on the track with an interval of 10 minutes, having in their hands a route with control points (checkpoints) on the map that needed to be found. Fixation at the point was carried out using an electronic accounting system.

Orienteering was assessed in accordance with the rules of the International Rogaining Federation (IRF) in the format of 3 hours (short distance). Each branch from the national team had to cover the distance in the shortest possible time.

Each team in a platoon must run more than 60 km in total (about 20 km for each squad) while finding as many checkpoints as possible located along the entire distance.

In total, more than 450 military personnel from 18 countries take part in the Airborne Platoon competition as part of national army teams.

Competitions between paratroopers from different countries are held within the framework of the Army International Games “ARMY-2021” from August 22 to September 2 of this year. at the Dubrovichi training ground of the Tula Guards Airborne Force in the Ryazan Region.
