Road repairs in preparation for winter are 70 percent complete. All work will be completed in October, said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for housing and communal services and landscaping. Peter Biryukov.

“This year, it is planned to repair about 2.8 thousand objects with a total area of ​​over 23 million square meters, currently the work is 70 percent completed,” the deputy mayor said. “We carry out repairs mainly at night when traffic is lower.”

He stressed that one of the tasks is to remove the rut, which was formed due to heavy traffic and temperature changes, as it can cause an accident.

Work has already been completed to repair sections of the Garden Ring, 1st Tverskaya-Yamskaya Street, as well as key outbound highways: Leningradsky Prospect, Leningradsky, Varshavsky, Kashirskoye, Shchelkovsky, Ostashkovsky, Kievsky and Novoryazansky Highways.

Currently, work is underway at more than 130 sites. Among them are sections of Borovskoye Highway, Volgogradsky and Leninsky Prospekt, Krasnaya Presnya Streets, Lipetskaya and Shirokaya Streets, as well as Brateevsky Bridge.

The head of the municipal economy complex noted that after the asphalt was laid, the center lines of the road marking would be drawn, dividing the traffic flows in opposite directions. 10 days after that, lane lines, markings of pedestrian crossings, stop lines, direction indicators, duplicate road signs and markings of public transport stops will be drawn.

And on the eve of September 1, more eight thousand signs “Caution, children!”. These markings warn drivers to slow down and be extremely careful.
