Today, at the Brestsky training ground in the Republic of Belarus, participants in the international competitions of snipers of special purpose units “Sniper Frontier” from 11 countries completed the performance of individual competition tasks. The final tests of the first stage of the competition were the Ballistic Window and MIL exercises.
During the individual exercise “Ballistic Window”, the shooters had to hit a special target with a diameter of 30 cm at a distance of 300 to 500 meters from a prone position with one shot in 2 minutes. A feature of this exercise is the presence of a special shield at the shooting range covering the entire target environment with windows for firing measuring 7×7 cm, 5×5 cm and 3×3 cm.The size of the window through which the sniper fired, he had to choose before performing the exercise. To successfully complete this task, the shooter must hit the target without hitting the opening of the selected window through which he fired with a bullet. For a hit target through a 7×7 cm window, the sniper received 10 points, 5×5 cm – 20 points and 3×3 cm – 30 points, respectively.
The competition participants also performed the MIL exercise from a prone position. Snipers had to shoot at targets from a rifle with changes in the vertical corrections of the telescopic sight made in advance by the referee, equal to from 0 to 25 centimeters per 100 meters. The shooter, not knowing about the changes made, must, from a prone position, make a test shot at an A4 paper target at a distance of 100 meters, then make the necessary calculations on the reticle of the sight, the vertical correction introduced earlier by the referee, and, without entering any amendments, hit three special targets with three shots. 40×40 centimeters at ranges from 300 to 600 meters. The shooters were given only one minute to complete this exercise. For each hit target, the shooter was awarded 10 points.
With an equal number of points during the “Ballistic Window” and “MIL” exercises, the winner was the sniper who spent less time on the exercise.
The “Sniper Frontier” competition among special forces snipers is held on the territory of the Republic of Belarus on the basis of the Brestsky training ground of the 38th separate guards air assault brigade of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus from August 22 to September 4 as part of the VII International Army Games. Teams from Russia, Belarus, India, Iran, Qatar, China, Pakistan, Serbia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka take part in it.
The Russian team at international competitions is represented by the winners of the all-army stage of the “Sniper Frontier-2021” competition – the best snipers of the special forces of the Eastern and Western military districts of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In addition, the teams of the Russian Guard and DOSAAF of Russia participate in the competitions on an out-of-competition basis.
The International Army Games 2021 are held from August 22 to September 4, 2021 on the territory of 11 states (Russia, Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, Vietnam, Iran, Qatar, Kazakhstan, China, Serbia, Uzbekistan).
In total, more than 5 thousand servicemen, consisting of 277 teams from 42 countries, take part in 34 competitions of ARMI-2021.
