Today, the command and personnel of the Mikhailovskaya Military Artillery Academy congratulated the veteran of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Academy Department, retired Colonel Andrei Kirillovich Epikhin on the 100th anniversary.

The festive events began with a solemn meeting in the “Hall of Fame” of the university, where the faculty and staff of the academy, representatives of the trade union committee congratulated the hero of the day via video link. After that, in the courtyard of the house where Andrei Kirillovich lives, a solemn meeting was held under the leadership of the head of the academy, Lieutenant General Sergei Bakaneev.

“Dear Andrey Kirillovich, you have devoted more than 65 years to the education of artillerymen and missilemen of our country and artillerymen of foreign armed forces. You are truly a legend and pride of artillery. I wish you good health and success in serving the Fatherland, ”said Sergey Bakaneev in his congratulatory speech.

The command of the university presented the hero of the day with congratulatory addresses from the leadership of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the High Command of the Ground Forces, etc. In a solemn atmosphere, a commemorative plaque “Here lives a Hero” was placed on the facade of the house.

At the end of the event, the banner group and the company of the guard of honor, accompanied by the military orchestra of the academy, marched in front of the veteran’s house.

Andrey Kirillovich Epikhin was born in the village of Cheboksarovo, Orenburg Region on August 28, 1921.

In 1940, in the city of Stalinabad, Tajik SSR, he graduated from school with honors. On September 7, 1940 he was drafted into the Red Army. On June 23, 1941, Andrei Kirillovich was enrolled as a cadet at the Dnepropetrovsk Artillery School. I had to learn tactics and strategy not in classrooms, but on the battlefields. The cadets of the school were sent to defend the western outskirts of the city. On the day of his 20th birthday he was wounded. After being discharged from the hospital, Andrei Kirillovich was sent to a separate anti-tank artillery battalion of the 18th rifle brigade and was appointed commander of the gun crew.

In March 1943, Lieutenant Andrey Yepikhin was appointed battery commander of the first battery of the 1510th anti-tank artillery fighter regiment. He took part in the Battle of the Kursk Bulge as part of the 3rd Guards Stalingrad Mechanized Corps of the Steppe Front.

In April 1944, he was appointed battery commander of the 67th Reserve Artillery Regiment.

Andrey Kirillovich Epikhin was awarded the Orders of the Patriotic War of I and II degrees, the Red Star, “For Service to the Motherland in the Armed Forces of the USSR” of the III degree, the medal “For Courage” and many others.

In 1953, A.K. Epikhin. entered the Military Artillery Command Academy in Leningrad, from which he graduated in 1957 with a gold medal. After graduating from the academy, he arrived in Tashkent at the disposal of the commander, the troops of the Turkestan military district. In 1960, Andrei Kirillovich returned to Leningrad again as an adjunct at the M.I. Kalinin, and in 1963, upon graduation, he defended his dissertation in a new quality for himself – a rocket scientist. He was awarded the academic degree “candidate of technical sciences”.

In 1963, retired Colonel Andrei Kirillovich, appointed to the position of a teacher in one of the departments of the Academy, still continues to work there as an associate professor.

In December 2002, by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, he was awarded the honorary title “Honored Worker of the Higher School of the Russian Federation”.

Andrey Kirillovich Epikhin serves as a role model for many generations of the military personnel of the academy. A sense of selfless love for artillery permeated his entire life. Giving all his strength and talent to his kind of troops, he has been supporting and increasing the scientific and educational potential of the Academy for many years, helping to strengthen its authority in Russia and abroad.
